Vladimir’s lifelong interests in both the artistic and the
technical sides of music began at an early age – beginning with piano at age 8,
guitar and singing at 14. He started playing in band with Simeon Stoilkov and Georgy Jefferski - friends from his primary school.
During his study in the high school – The National School of Mathematics and Informatics he met Kalin Nakov, Dobry Stoilov and Stella Tormanova,
who also joined the band. Influenced by his father Kamen Tanov, who was a sound engineer in Bulgarian National Radio,
Vladimir pieced together the first PC-based recording studio in Bulgaria (1994, DAW with Windows 3.1, Sound Blaster card, Cakewalk 3.0 sequencer and Cool Edit software).
He discovered his passion - recording and mixing acoustic drums (probably the hardest thing to record).
The first tracks were recorded with 1U 19" DIY 10 channel mixer with parametric EQs.
The audio career as an audio engineer and arranger began in 1995.
After programming and arranging hundreds of MIDI tracks, he found his new challenge in creating his own sample banks,
especially for drums. He was trying to achieve the complicated sound of the live drumset by studying dynamics and frequency response.
Vladimir graduated from the Technical University of Sofia in 2002 with a BS in Electronic Engineering.
During college, he spent most of his free time learning about analog audio electronics and digital signal processing.
In the 2003, Vladimir started his career as a software engineer at Sony Electronics in the field of video broadcast.
He managed to grow to a development manager in astonishing three years.
In parallel with this, he continued to work in his sound recording studio, improving his technical knowledge.
